The 3 speed + forward / reverse function has many different advantages, each mode has its own benefit;
Mode 1 (Economy) - for low battery consumption and maximum range, slower speeds, smooth acceleration and less torque which is great for wet weather traction
Mode 2 (Normal) - gives the same boost and feel of a traditional motorcycle, with good range and high speeds, similar to an automatic transmission
Mode 3 (overdrive) - is normally used when you wish to overtake or reach maximum speed quickly. Acceleration and torque in this mode is at its highest output.
Forward / Reverse - Flick the switch in the direction you wish to go. With the switch in the F position just twist the throttle and go, or flick the switch to R when you're in a parking bay and need to reverse out
